It's the moment we've been waiting for... the spec house Mike Wedman Homes has been building in the new Westwood Hills subdivision, that we've been updating you on, has officially hit the market! Here is the link to check it out and here is a brief description:

Gorgeous New Construction boasts breathtaking views of ponds, trees and green space. Open Floorplan features Vaulted Ceilings with Grand Fireplace in Living Room, Reclaimed Wood Floors & Huge Granite Kitchen Island. Enjoy quiet evenings overlooking the pond on Serene Screened-In Porch or invite friends over to enjoy Backyard Firepit. One of a kind Rustic Wet Bar in basement. Ample unfinished space in basement for storage. Currently Under Construction -- ACT FAST and pick the finishes!
It is still under construction but a lot of builders choose to list their homes at this point so that a potential buyer can pick the finishes. For example, if you bought the home today you would get to pick all the paint colors, tile, flooring, appliances, etc etc. It's kind of like having the map in place for where you are going to go (the home has a plan of what the basic structure will look like) but YOU get to choose all the stops (aka make all the fun "picks" for the finishes). And it truly is SO much fun to do! Until someone purchases this home and begins to make the picks themselves we are going to involve YOU in helping us make them.
Most people have a VERY hard time imagining a finished product, you have to get beyond what you see and think like a builder. You have to see walls that create space and finishes that pop. Mike is nothing less than BRILLIANT at this. We've built 4 custom homes for ourselves (and he's built countless for others), every time through the process Mike has to say "Annie, trust me, I can envision what this is going to look like". And I'm not kidding when I say that he always knocks it out of the park and what I had in mind turns into something even better. He just gets it.
Let's get onto some product picks. Mike and I have been discussing the living room and kitchen a lot lately. His idea is to have an open, vaulted ceiling in the living room. Something that looks much like this....
The beams will be white. We have been trying to figure out what we think will look best for the wood behind the beams. What do you think? (Remember, try not to focus too much on what the room looks like or the furniture. We are purely going for design style here on the wood behind the beams.)
CEILING OPTION ONE - NATURAL
Here is a product we found that we would use for this look. It's never going to be identical but we have to work with what we can find! :)
CEILING OPTION TWO - LIGHT GRAY
Here is a product we found, a little lighter than pictured, but beautiful!
And a little darker but also an option:
We are envisioning the kitchen as light, bright, and white. It seems to be a popular trend right now. We want it to feature a large, granite kitchen island that potentially has a different paint color than the cabinets. Take a look at these examples, do you have a preference on kitchen island paint color?
KITCHEN ISLAND COLOR OPTION ONE - WHITE
KITCHEN ISLAND COLOR OPTION TWO - DARK GRAY
KITCHEN ISLAND COLOR OPTION THREE - LIGHT GRAY/GREEN
We'd love to hear your thoughts on these picks or if you have any suggestions! Help us build this nest for some lucky person.
Love Your Nest!!Annie
